At Simkab, quality is not a final inspection step—it is embedded into every phase of our wire harness and cable assembly manufacturing process. From incoming material verification to final electrical testing, our quality management system ensures that every product leaving our Istanbul facility meets the highest international standards. This page provides a detailed overview of our certifications, testing procedures, and the systems we use to guarantee consistent, traceable quality.
ISO Certification
Simkab operates under an ISO-certified quality management system that governs every aspect of our operations—from design review and supplier qualification to production control and customer feedback. Our ISO certification is maintained through regular internal audits and external surveillance audits conducted by accredited certification bodies. The ISO framework ensures that our processes are documented, standardized, and continuously improved based on measurable performance data. This certification gives our customers in the energy, telecommunications, industrial, and agricultural sectors confidence that Simkab meets globally recognized management standards.
IPC/WHMA-A-620 Compliance
IPC/WHMA-A-620, titled “Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies,” is the definitive workmanship standard for the wire harness industry. Published jointly by IPC and the Wire Harness Manufacturer’s Association, it defines the criteria for acceptable and defective conditions across all common processes: crimping, soldering, wire wrapping, cable tie installation, lacing, connector assembly, shielding termination, and more. Simkab’s production personnel are trained to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, and our inspection team uses the standard’s criteria as the baseline for every accept/reject decision. For a full explanation of terms referenced in this standard, see our Wire Harness Glossary.
Testing Procedures
Every wire harness and cable assembly produced at Simkab undergoes a series of tests before it is approved for shipment. Our testing procedures are designed to catch defects that visual inspection alone cannot detect and to provide documented evidence of product conformity.
Crimp Cross-Section Analysis
For critical crimped connections, we perform cross-section analysis—a destructive test where the crimp is cut perpendicular to the wire axis, polished, and examined under high magnification. This analysis verifies proper compression of wire strands within the terminal barrel, correct crimp height, and the absence of voids, cracks, or strand damage. Cross-section analysis is performed during production setup, at regular intervals during runs, and whenever a new terminal or wire combination is introduced.
Pull-Force Testing
Pull-force testing measures the tensile force required to separate a crimped or soldered terminal from its wire. Each wire gauge and terminal combination has a minimum pull-force requirement defined by the terminal manufacturer and reinforced by IPC/WHMA-A-620. Our pull-force testing equipment records the exact force at which separation occurs, and results are logged against the specific production lot for traceability.
Electrical Continuity Testing
Every completed harness is tested for electrical continuity to verify that every circuit is correctly wired and that no open or short circuits exist. Our test fixtures are programmed with the specific pinout of each harness configuration, enabling fast and reliable automated testing. A harness that fails continuity testing is immediately quarantined, diagnosed, and reworked before being re-tested.
Hi-Pot (High-Potential) Testing
Hi-pot testing applies a high voltage between conductors or between conductors and shield/ground to verify insulation integrity. This test detects insulation defects such as pinholes, contamination, or damage that could lead to failures in the field. Hi-pot testing is particularly important for harnesses used in high-voltage energy applications and safety-critical systems.
Traceability System
Simkab maintains full lot traceability on all materials and processes. Every wire, connector, terminal, and accessory used in a production run is recorded with its manufacturer lot number, date code, and supplier certificate of conformity. Each finished harness is assigned a unique serial number that links to its complete production history: the operator who built it, the date and time of assembly, the tools and dies used, and the results of every test performed. In the event of a field issue, our traceability system allows us to quickly identify the scope of any affected product and take targeted corrective action. This level of traceability is essential for clients in regulated industries and is a key differentiator for Simkab.
RoHS & REACH Compliance
All Simkab products are manufactured with materials that comply with the European Union’s RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive and REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) regulation. We require RoHS and REACH declarations from all material suppliers and maintain a database of compliance certificates. Our commitment to environmental compliance ensures that our customers can confidently integrate Simkab products into their own CE-marked and RoHS-compliant systems. Compliance documentation is available on our Declarations page.
Continuous Improvement
Quality management at Simkab is not static. We conduct regular management reviews, track key performance indicators including defect rates and customer returns, and implement corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies. Employee training is ongoing, with annual IPC/WHMA-A-620 refresher courses and cross-training programs that build versatility across our production team.
